Windows 8.1 Enterprise Evaluation Thoughts

What could be wrong with Windows 8.1 ?
The only answer i have is that most of the OS is wrong.

As a user of the fantastic IBM Model M keyboard Windows 8.1 is just horrible in use, nothing is where you want it and when they try to fix something they do not even try to actually fix anything.

I wanted the start menu, not just the bloody button!

The biggest problem with Win8.1 is that it is really made for touch devices, and still they are going to make DirectX 11.2 a Windows 8.1 and Xbone exlusive for no other reason than to make people buy Win8 for their desktops. ( As a geeky benchmarker this is really important for me )

One thing that really pisses me off is Skydrive, it's impossible to deactivate.
When i used Win8 on both my desktop and laptop Skydrive kept synking the desktops on both computers whatever i tried to make it stop.

I'd rather keep my powerlevel for myself thank you very much.

Another problem that actually bigger than you would think is the dumbing of Windows 8. They have dumbed it down in a way that actually makes it harder to use for so called " powerusers ".
Everything you want is hidden behind a mix of strokes of the mouse and curses made by the old Egyptians, setting up Windows 8 makes installing Gentoo from scratch look like childs play.

Why do we need that bloody menu that only shows up when you least need it. and what's up with that clock ?

One plus is that it's possible to " deactivate " that mess that is knows as Metro, unless you want to lock your computer of course.
I can't believe they put the lock button in Metro and not on the " Start menu ", that makes no sense at all.

The problem with Windows 8.1 is really the small things, the small annoying things that always gets in the way of whatever you're doing.
It seems Microsoft has been smitten by what i like to call the iOS syndrome, i think it's far too locked down.

That's all i can think about Windows 8.1 now after a couple of months.
