Heavy Duty EP - Local band with a cup

Heavy Duty is a local band that consists of 3 people and one cup.
Now that they have released their EP i wanted to write words in lovely engrish for you to get confused over.

I'm going to write about the EP as a whole instead of putting too much pressure on each of the tracks.
( Don't judge me, i know i'm lazy )

Album Art

What you see is what you get, that is what the Album art is all about.

I really like the the artwork here, it's weird in a good way and it gives you a feel of what kind of music they are going for.

(The red writing is signatures.. because science)

Still, the artwork don't really stand out but it looks good, the best part is in the booklet!
( The Booklet artwork is something i can't add now )

Covered in Blood
This is what god have said
And i will pay for revenge
What ? Hitmen are far too expensive..

The Music

This is no Gunther or Miley Cyrus.
This is Art

This is far more Heavy Metal than GuntherCyrus ( Of course )
The genre differs between the songs so it sounds a bit experimental, but it still has pretty heavy influence from Metallica and Kvelertak.

Metallica at its finest

The songs don't fit too good together but that is really common on EP's as your weird nudist uncle don't really have too many tracks to choose between.
The songs themselves is good but there is some flaws here and there, but all in all it's a good EP.

TrackList

1. Psychical War
2. The Horrible Existence
3. Metal Maniac
4. Covered In Blood
5. Get It On ( Turbonegro Cover )

Audio Quality ?

This is where most of the flaws actually are.
One problem is the drums, this album is recorded with electric drums so they sound weirdly tight.
The soundstage is a bit variable, it sounds nice on some tracks and on other it sounds like they mixed the songs for the Oh so popular " Music " headphones.

The most fitting picture i can find.

The Audio Quality is not something you need Hi-Fi speakers to enjoy, the audio compression is noticeable but it's something that is really easy to ignore with this type of music.

Is it worth the money ?

That depends, If you are into this type of music it's a good buy.
This is a good EP for what it is but this is a pretty niche genre of music so it's not for all.

Oingo Boingo ; Marching in time ( Fan made LP )

Oingo Boingo have been my favourite band ever since i first heard their song " Weird Science " in the movie of the same name.

I have been importing lots of their albums over the years now, and around 2009 i were looking through their unreleased tracks on YouTube when one comment there got my attention.

There was this guy who were looking for recordings for a album he wanted to make, he would call it " Marching in time ".

Now some years later i actually bought that record, the white limited edition that is. ( I got number 29 out of 75 )

It looks really good for a fan creation!

Tracklist:

Side A :

- Marching in time
- Freak Show
- Lost like this
- Hold me back
- All The Pieces.

Side B :

- Make it right
- I stand defeated
- Kiss my ass
- Nuclear babies
- Elementary physics

The Disk Itself:

There is not much to say here, The white edition looks fantastic on the player.
They also gave out a standard black edition that was made 400 of so even that one is pretty rare!
But the rarest one is the orange vinyl that i didn't even know about until i started finding info for writing this.
As far as i know the orange vinyl was made only 20 (!) of and it looks pretty good too.

I think the white vinyl is by far the best looking one.

What About The Music ?

What you see is what you get, this is the good old Oingo Boingo that everyone knows and loves.
( At least i know and love.. )
You got to remember that this is unreleased tracks that is not fully mastered so the audio it good, but not great if you catch my drift. ( Hopefully you will )
The tracks themselves are great to listen to, i had a blast going through the vinyl a couple of days ago.
If you are a big fan of Oingo Boingo i think this is a must have in your treasure chest of lust and mortal sin.

Afterword : This is really a collectible for the Oingo Boingo fans as these are really rare now, and we all know to treasure Oingo Boingo stuff.

                                                          This is my own treasure

Windows 8.1 Enterprise Evaluation Thoughts

What could be wrong with Windows 8.1 ?
The only answer i have is that most of the OS is wrong.

As a user of the fantastic IBM Model M keyboard Windows 8.1 is just horrible in use, nothing is where you want it and when they try to fix something they do not even try to actually fix anything.

I wanted the start menu, not just the bloody button!

The biggest problem with Win8.1 is that it is really made for touch devices, and still they are going to make DirectX 11.2 a Windows 8.1 and Xbone exlusive for no other reason than to make people buy Win8 for their desktops. ( As a geeky benchmarker this is really important for me )

One thing that really pisses me off is Skydrive, it's impossible to deactivate.
When i used Win8 on both my desktop and laptop Skydrive kept synking the desktops on both computers whatever i tried to make it stop.

I'd rather keep my powerlevel for myself thank you very much.

Another problem that actually bigger than you would think is the dumbing of Windows 8. They have dumbed it down in a way that actually makes it harder to use for so called " powerusers ".
Everything you want is hidden behind a mix of strokes of the mouse and curses made by the old Egyptians, setting up Windows 8 makes installing Gentoo from scratch look like childs play.

Why do we need that bloody menu that only shows up when you least need it. and what's up with that clock ?

One plus is that it's possible to " deactivate " that mess that is knows as Metro, unless you want to lock your computer of course.
I can't believe they put the lock button in Metro and not on the " Start menu ", that makes no sense at all.

The problem with Windows 8.1 is really the small things, the small annoying things that always gets in the way of whatever you're doing.
It seems Microsoft has been smitten by what i like to call the iOS syndrome, i think it's far too locked down.

That's all i can think about Windows 8.1 now after a couple of months.
